In this report, the subject "student life in Paisley" will be analysed. To find some answers, a topic guide has been created and filled in by a Paisley student sample. Thanks to it, a comparison between Chinese and "European" people has been possible. Two theoretical areas will be used to illustrate this case, and more especially two theories. On the one hand, the motivation will be the first area explained by the Maslow's
theory which classifies human needs in five stages.
On the other hand, the second theory will be Hofstede's theory, and will involve the culture area. It speaks about the differentiation between culture in an objective and quantifying way. From this report, motivations and cultures of foreign students come in Paisley will be analysed, as well as their student life in Paisley.
Indeed, nowadays, more and more students are attracted to studying abroad: tertiary education increasingly reaches beyond national boundaries. In many parts of the world, tertiary-level students are enrolled in programmes in countries where they are not permanent residents. Most of the students who's study abroad aim to learn a new language. Furthermore, studying abroad would be very useful for students, because they will have to manage their own lives themselves, they will be able to discover a new culture and be more open-minded.

[...] The aim of the individual is to satisfy some kind of needs to react other kinds of needs. So he hade to progress in the pyramid which schematize the Maslow model. It is also possible sometimes to go down. That means that the level of life of the individual has regressed because of a bad event. When all these needs are satisfied, the individual try to satisfy the self actualization needs. Abraham Maslow also calls it the “being needs” or B-needs”.
