Marketing, personal marketing plan SWOT analysis, marketing strategy, career plan
Managing one's career is a difficult task just as managing a product on the market. One's career goes through different stages and evolves with choices and personality.
Graduation is a very important step in a student's life, yet it is only where things really begin. In fact, it implies making many choices among a large set of different possibilities. As far as I'm concerned, I have a very pragmatic vision of my career and prefer not to look too far ahead. I strongly feel that the first step through which I will have to go is consolidating and putting into practice the concepts and knowledge acquired throughout my education. For recruiters, experience is as important as qualifications, depending on the job. In addition, I believe that understanding the enterprise working processes and organization requires a strong commitment to the company for a certain amount of time. To my mind, graduating doesn't mean I will stop learning. On the contrary, I will learn probably more than I did at University but it will be in a more concrete way, related to the constraints and needs of the market. Facing everyday cases helps understanding the market needs.
In the long term, my project is to start my own IT business. I don't want to hurry; I prefer waiting until I feel ready and have enough experience to get a precise vision of the company I want to start, in every little details [...]
[...] That's why I have invested so much of myself in learning languages. Hard working, capacity to bear pressure and responsibilities (consciousness): I am able to sustain a high level of work and increase my work capacity in periods of rush. Bearing pressure and responsibilities is a challenge for me and I think it's necessary to increase individual skills. Having a high state of consciousness, I am able to take responsibilities and work under pressure. Working under constraints of time and resources corresponds to the idea I have of a highly competitive market. [...]
[...] My weaknesses: Not enough experience: This is probably the most important point to improve. I have done several internships but no long experience of working for a company. However I know I can improve on this weakness within several years. Usually, after having experience, recruiters change their hold a different speech in job interviews and you become much more valuable to them. You have at least one more added value: reliability, depending on your past experiences. Sensitive to isolation (loneliness): Many IT engineers are able to live in a high level of isolation. [...]
[...] Having me “SWOT analyzed” is important in particular before facing recruiters, in order to know what I can bring to companies and the points on which they can try to destabilize me. Internal factors: a. My strengths: Flexible: Flexibility is a strong asset for companies. Having no family (my family being spread on the planet), no wife or any strong attachment with people, I can offer a full availability. Furthermore, I'm used to traveling and can be moved from one city to another, one country to another. I can adjust myself to different working hours and time. I can undertake changes of place, time and work within a short notice. [...]
[...] It can be very difficult for me to be isolated for a long time, and of course it would influence greatly the quality of my work. External factors: a. Opportunities: Growth of the internet and related applications: IT is probably the field where you can find the most job offers. Nowadays, computers are necessary and used almost everywhere. But in particular the growth of the internet, and all related services like electronic commerce offer me great opportunities. I am specialized in electronic commerce and computer and network security which are two fields where the need for engineers is exploding at the moment. [...]
